Exactly

Exactly begins with Edwin Booth, 75, pleading with the statue of his deceased great, great, grandfather, the 19th century’s pre-eminent actor and interpreter of Hamlet. Contemporary Edwin is a retired New York stage producer and director.

Edwin wants to die. Desperately. But the Dead Actor’s Bureau from the Beyond, keeps Edwin from his goal. Until he restores the fame of his famous patriarch, our 21st century Edwin cannot be allowed to die.

In walks an unknown playwright, a California Space-Cadet with no writing background or credits, seeking a producer and director. Briggs Stratton cannot see obstacles to his goal of getting his new play, Exactly, produced on the New York stage.

Reluctantly, Edwin finds himself taking on this hopeless project. Briggs sets out to cast his play and everyone he meets signs onto this absurd project.

Getting mixed up with a gang of grifters and con-men, Edwin finds himself working with people totally foreign to everything he’s done in the theater—who take him to places he’s never been.

The staged reading will be read by Frank Widman, Steve Capasso, Ali Eppy, Lilly Begovic, Jocelyn McMahon, Drew Crocker, and Scott Kravitz.
